The King’s Guard is the ever-growing team behind the Belted Kingfisher! With so much happening behind the scenes, all over campus and beyond, there is a part for anyone and everyone who wants to help us make this mascot official!

Interested in joining us? Our recruiting team will be hosting recruitment sessions the first Tuesday of the first full month of every semester. During these sessions, you can find out more about:
- Our history and those who came before us
- The importance of our work
- How you can play a part!

OUR SUBTEAMS
1) PERFORMING
The performing team is in charge of the Belted Kingfisher’s physical presence at in-person events. This includes being a mascot handler (i.e. answering any questions) or even performing as the mascot herself! Members of the performing team will have the opportunity to attend events on and off campus, from cheering on our athletes at school games to rocking some sick choreography at the Canopy Club!
2) LOBBYING
All of the media mentions, endorsements and resolutions we have garnered would not have been possible without our excellent lobbying team! Members communicate with external bodies who can influence the administration to make the Belted Kingfisher official!
3) ART & GRAPHIC DESIGN
Have you seen any of our stickers or posters around campus? That’s our Art & Graphic Design team right there! With a variety of styles, our group of amazing artists create eye-catching and memorable designs for special occasions (e.g. Engineering Open House, graduation), RSO logos, merchandise and more!
4) RECRUITING
We are always looking for folks who want to contribute their ideas and skills to the King’s Guard. That’s why our Recruiting team hosts regular information sessions for anyone who wants to find out more! Sessions are held the first Tuesday of the first full month of every semester. You can also fill up this form to get in contact with a member of the Recruiting team!
5) SOCIAL MEDIA
While our Performing team leads the Belted Kingfisher’s physical presence, our Social Media team shines in establishing our digital presence! From RSO features to wacky Big Ten mascot shenanigans, there is much online content to be made!
